Disaster Law Information Platform
afethukuku.com is a scientific and social information platform created to help people affected by disasters learn about their legal rights, reach reliable information and follow legal processes in a more understandable way.
The platform presents disaster-law legislation, court decisions, application routes and core legal concepts in plain, clear and accessible language. Guides, information cards, visual content and step-by-step road maps prepared through a legal-design approach aim to make complex legal texts understandable to everyone.

Why afethukuku.com?
After a disaster, people may face not only housing, health and safety problems but also many legal issues such as damage assessment, entitlement, property, tenancy, insurance, compensation, tax, social assistance and administrative applications.
Fragmented legal information, technical legislative language and uncertainty about where and how to apply can lead to a loss of rights.
The Disaster Law platform was developed to:
- Bring legal information together in one digital environment
- Make legislation plain and understandable
- Guide citizens through their first steps
- Provide organised resources for legal professionals and researchers
- Support information-sharing between institutions and civil society organisations
Who is it for?
The platform is designed to meet the needs of different audiences. People affected by disasters receive plain-language guides, application routes, information cards and support-point details. Legal professionals can access legislation, court decisions, academic studies and documents. Research results, workshop reports and scientific resources are shared for academics and students. Content for public institutions includes legislative assessments, field findings and policy recommendations. Training materials, collaboration opportunities and dissemination content are provided for NGOs and professional organisations.
